The Academy for Security Professionals (The Academy) is a training institution geared towards cultivating informed minds and making a positive impact on the lives of Security Personnel, Organizations and Individual professionals. We are committed to raising the performance standards of the Security Industry in Trinidad and Tobago by providing advanced, innovative and professional training in the fields of Leadership and Security Management. The team of Facilitators consists of individuals from various academic backgrounds including military, police science, criminology, business administration, management and law, among others. These persons possess considerable experience and knowledge in their respective academic fields of study and are very proficient in programme design and delivery techniques. The Academy has worked jointly in collaboration with the University of the West Indies Faculty of Social Sciences to design and facilitate the dynamic Ambassador Skills Module of the Workplace Protocol for Students Programme. The Academy has continued their growth and evolution by now partnering with the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies.

Maj. Andy Berahazar
Major Andy Berahazar, pJ SC, ED, was the Acting Commanding Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Reserves with thirty eight (38) years of experience since his enlistment in The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force \ (Regiment) in June 1978. During his time away from the military, he worked in the Security Management field as Security Advisor to the General Manger, Corporate Services of the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) and as the Chief Security Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (TTEC), which are the two (2) major public utility agencies of Trinidad and Tobago. Today he serves as the Academy Head for the ProTec Group of Companies.
Ret'd FCPO Anthony Coker
Mr. Anthony Coker retired from the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (Coast Guard). His last substantive post was that of Intelligence Operations Manager for the Special Anti-Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (SAUTT). During his tenure in that unit he acted in the capacity of Assistant Director Intelligence during the Summit of the Americas.
His Military certification dates back to 1989 when he trained with the Special Naval Unit and US Navy Seals (Red Cell), Paramedic and battlefield procedures (NEHERST and US Navy), Maritime Law Enforcement (US Navy), Port and Harbour Security (US Coast Guard), Intelligence Analysis (DEA and REDRAC Jamaica, Advanced Narcotic Investigations (REDTRAC Jamaica).
Col. (Ret'd) Ricardo Garcia ED BA MSt CPP AMBCI
Principal Security Consultant with over thirty (30) years in the security industry at the national security and corporate level. He has diverse expertise and knowledge in Security Management and is a Board – Certified Protection Professional, Business Continuity Professional, Marine Security Recognized Security Organization (RSO) under the ISPS Code, Certified Firearms Instructor and Corporate Trainer.
Laura Bigram - Technical Adviser
Software developer with over 10 years of experience in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining software applications using various technologies like Java, C, PHP, MySQL, Postgres, Javascript, XHTML, CSS3, Laravel Framework, Codigniter, Git. She is certified and experienced as an AWS Solutions Architect with a strong background in project and team coordination.
Her Proven skills are in delivering and conducting training, reports and proposal writing. Currently she is pursuing a Doctorate in Information Assurance from the University of Fairfax, with specialization in DevSecOps, Incident Response, and Business Continuity.
